Meditation Group

Although this blog is entitled Think Thankful, I have never written about the group that started this. I started a meditation/study group in June 2007 and named it Think Thankful. I wanted it to be about meditation but also about the Law of Attraction and living it and using it in your life.

Starting the group is one of those examples of just relaxing and not focusing at all on the "what-ifs" that plague all new endeavors. I mentioned it to my acupuncturist Megan who owns and runs Stonington Natural Health Center in Stonington, CT. I almost didn't even realize that I was doing it at the time but out it came. She immediately said she would sponsor the group so that we could have a beautiful new theater space in the basement of her building to use. She talks to clients about it, puts it in her emails and generally just promotes the group. I think within a week or two the schedule was set and the first meeting was planned! I enjoy running the group and I am proud of it and am happy to have my name attached to it.

Megan has done alot to encourage the growth of the group and in so doing has helped me to have something of my own. It can be easy to put yourself and your own interests on the back burner when you have young children. We also homeschool our children and so I don't have this idea that in a few years I'll have some set time to myself five days a week. Therefore the desire to pay attention to my own interests can't be put off a few years. I'm going to have children at home for at least the next 20 years!

Through Megan's support of the group my own support for my interests has strengthened and for that I Am Thankful!

Happiness First

I just saw a video from ABC News about a woman named Nancy Makin who has lost over 500 pounds. How did she do it? It was simple really. Nancy said Find Happiness First, know that you have value as a person and then as a side effect the weight will just come off.

She is so right and what a dramatic reminder!! You can't wait to be happy. You can't decide to be happy only when you lose the weight you want to, or find the perfect mate, or get a new job. You must find joy and happiness now. An easy way to start feeling better now is by being thankful, for something, for anything. That will get you on the right track.

Great Books

For those of you looking for some great books I would recommend any book by Esther and Jerry Hicks. Their Abraham series is really inspiring and life affirming. Read them - I am so glad that I did.

Being Bored is a Blessing

I got this from one of the homeschooling lists that I am on and I thought that it was such a great response to the classic "I'm Bored" that not only kids but adults say...

How lucky for you, it means that you are ready for something new to
come into your life. Now is the time to relax, listen, and be aware
and open to your next adventure.

What a great way to bring thanks into a moment that is so often looked upon negatively! In all moments there is opportunity to find a way to be thankful.

Before 7pm

Both kids fell asleep before 7pm. And I am so thankful for that.

Left Out of the Conversation

I have blogged about my husband Keith a little before but yesterday he helped set up my website and an account on Café Press for Think Thankful and connect it up with my blog. Plus he went grocery shopping and made dinner! I am glad to say that I am one of those wives who has nothing to contribute to conversations on husband complaints. In this way, being left out of conversations is so wonderful!

Truth Be Told

Alright so I can procrastinate sometimes. I do think about what I am thankful for everyday but getting used to blogging it is not always the easiest. Can I give the excuse that soon I will have 3 children under 4 years old? I don't know if that really is valid but maybe some of you will think so ;)

Okay so what I am thankful for today - Well yesterday my son said for the first time "I love you too" He has said it to his sister and his father but never me, until yesterday. And yesterday was Thanksgiving too. So that was how my day started and that is pretty wonderful.

Yesterday was also great - and my sister can vouch for this - my wonderful mother who I never, ever heard swear before in my life (seriously), by accident said a swear yesterday. I will not go into details to spare my mother the embarassment but I will say that no one in the family will ever forget this Thanksgiving! I love you, Mom!

So many choices!

AHHH! I haven't posted in a few days and rather than feeling like I had nothing to be thankful for instead I found myself having a hard time choosing what to write about! So that is what I am so thankful for today. So many choices, so many wonderful things to be thankful for :)

The Spinny Chair

What's the most used toy in our house? The spinny chair. It's orange and red and hard to miss. It's a ride, a hideout, a trap, a bed, a home for dolls and stuffed animals and a magnet for all children that see it. Design-wise it is also probably the coolest thing in our house.
Thank you Ikea!

Yes, we will get dessert

Last night my best friend and I went out for dinner. Now to some that may not seem so monumentous but I am a mom with young children and my friend lives an hour away. So for me last night was a wonderful treat. There's nothing like talking with someone who really knows you (and has for a long time) and still loves you (and has for a long time). And yes the dessert was really good :)

No Garbage

Now there are a lot of reasons why I love my husband but when I came downstairs today and looked out the kitchen window I saw one that really means a lot to me. Sitting on the curb were bags of garbage. Everyday my husband takes care of the garbage and recycling. He never asks for my help and never complains. It has basically been his job for the past 10 years and I am SO Thankful for that. Thank you, Honey!

Fall Drive

There are some days in New England in the fall that are just so beautiful that you can hardly believe it. Today was one of those days. The trees were vibrant, the sun was bright and the sky a brilliant blue. I was in the car for a few hours alone today and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Think Thankful!

Welcome to Think Thankful

Welcome to Think Thankful!
There really is only one purpose to this blog and that is to find things to be thankful for in my life. The more that I am thankful, the more things I find to be thankful for and on it goes. It is a beautiful expansion of positive energy. I do hope that you can find at least one thing to be thankful for each day, even if it is the tiniest of things. Being thankful makes a great day better and a hard day a little more bearable.
